Hello, Hi! I am Fabian Simasiku Kapepiso, and I am a librarian and love librarianship. When I was in school, I faced huge problems when we were given assignment and homework — not accessing useful information sources. And so I decided to end this misery which many learners and student face, when I decided to study librarianship at the University of Namibia, where I graduated with a Diploma in Information Studies in 2006, as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Library Science (Psychology) in 2010.
My interests were broad at first but began to be more specific on user services and cataloging. So the two specialties have become my passion. As a matter of fact, as part of my Undergraduate degree, I wrote a research report about The Training Needs for Teacher-Librarians in the Khomas Region (Windhoek), in which I tried to highlight the importance of having trained librarians in schools if learners should achieve academically.
I have continued with the role of helping library users find answers to questions and problems that give them headaches. And it have become a great journey in this challenging career.
As for my career, well, it began as I just started pursuing a B.A. degree, when I became a Library Assistant at the National Library of Namibia in April 2007. I was responsible for cataloging periodicals. In June 2009, I was transferred from that position to the reference section where I began acting in the position of Reference Librarian, due to staff shortages at the library. But as soon as I completed my studies, I became a Reference Librarian in July 2010. It is not easy, but every day I am pressing on to find new heights and make a few changes for the interest of the library users.
I intend to post at least two articles every month in this blog. I am waiting to hear all your comments and criticisms!
